George Lesiw Band
Guitarist George Lesiw and acoustic bassist Preston Murphy first met while studying at Berklee College of Music in the early 2000s, quickly forming a musical bond through their mutual love of jazz, blues, and groove-based improvisation. In 2003, they recorded their first album together, marking the beginning of a collaboration that has continued to evolve for over two decades.Since that initial recording, Lesiw and Murphy have performed together consistently, developing a deep, intuitive interplay that reflects years of shared experience and musical trust. The trio is rounded out by drummer Matt Keeler, whose dynamic touch, strong time feel, and sensitive interaction provide both propulsion and space, allowing the music to stretch and breathe organically.
George Lesiw is a guitarist, composer, and educator with extensive performance experience, including national touring as a guitarist with Eight To The Bar. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Berklee College of Music, a Master of Jazz Studies from SUNY Purchase, and a Master of Arts in Teaching Music from Sacred Heart University, where he currently serves as an adjunct professor. Lesiw’s playing is deeply rooted in the jazz and blues traditions while continually seeking to expand his improvisational voice.
Preston Murphy is an accomplished acoustic bassist known for his deep tone, strong time feel, and melodic approach to the instrument. A Berklee College of Music alumnus, Murphy brings a grounded yet flexible presence to the trio, anchoring the music while actively shaping its direction through interactive and supportive playing.
Matt Keeler is a highly respected drummer whose musical sensitivity, dynamic range, and adaptability make him an ideal collaborator in both straight-ahead and exploratory settings. His ability to shape form, respond intuitively, and drive the music with clarity and feel makes him a vital voice in the trio.Together, Lesiw, Murphy & Keeler create music that is conversational, soulful, and deeply connected—drawing from tradition while remaining open, spontaneous, and present in the moment
