THE DURKINS
Friday, July 16th 2010
"The Durkins are the result of years of making music with our friends and family." -That's what Johnny Durkin has to say about it. Johnny is the brother of vocalist Jen Durkin who has been a powerhouse staple on the Funk/Rock scene for well over a decade. Both Durkins are members of the original Deep Banana Blackout which continues to perform a handful of shows annually.
"In lieu of a full time touring schedule with DBB or either of our own groups we really wanted to play more." -says Johnny, "But with all things considered with touring and people's families and schedules it's easier to stay local but you don't want to over do it with any one act. If you see Manchado, which is my Latin/Jazz group, it's 3 plus hours of totally different music, instrumentation, and style. Same with Jen's Equinox project. But neither are geared toward Funk/Rock so we assembled the Durkins."
The rest of the band consists of Rich Zurkowski on Bass (Martin Sexton/Joe Louis Walker), Darian Cunning - Guitar(Cosmic Jibaros), Jesse Gibbon(Shliegho), and fellow DBB alumni Rob Somerville on Tenor Sax. "

CLINTON CURTIS
Saturday, July 17th 2010
Clinton Curtis grew up between the islands of Jamaica and Key West, Florida, the son of musicians and reggaehall owners. As a kid, he played with and learned from some of the Jamaican giants – Gregory Isaacs, Desmond Dekker and Roots Explosion. His mother and father were pioneers of the Jamaican live music scene, managing and promoting many top reggae artists. Clinton was always eager to learn from musicians, and they were happy to teach him. He was an accomplished classical pianist by age 8. By 13, he was fluent on more than a dozen instruments. At age 18, Clinton moved to New York and began working as a singer while studying acting at NYU.
It was there, in Greenwich Village, in the bars and clubs that defined so much of music history, that he realized he wanted to write popular music. He took to it feverishly, writing dozens of songs a month. He teamed up with producer Matt Stine, and signed to indie label 27 Sound. Currently, Clinton and his band are a fixture in the downtown NY music scene. Clinton is credited with having the largest crowd ever at the famous Lower East Side venue, The Livingroom, where he plays every month.

ROTARY (BEATLES TRIBUTE)
w/Johnny Mainstream
Saturday, July 24th 2010
Rotary was formed in February 2008 by Andy Wakeman, Bob and Jack Todaro, and Dan Matthews. The band's only goal starting out was to try and successfully recreate songs from The Beatles' catalogue. They played their first show in March 2008. Since then, they've played over 40 shows across Connecticut, compiling a list of venues that includes Toad's Place, Blue Back Square, and Mohegan Sun. They have also become regulars at several bars in the area and recently opened for The Guess Who at the Durham Fair Main Stage.
The band prides themselves on the youth and energy that they bring to their live performances, and their ability to capture the full Beatles arrangements with a four-piece band. The boys are also often joined on stage by Bob's wife, Brityn Todaro, to add in the light percussion that is so essential to many Beatles songs.

RANE
W/ Brothers McCann
Friday, July 30th 2010
While the current line up of local rock band RANE is on indefinite hiatus pursuing other areas of interest in life (ie: kids, houses, wives & boats), the classic line up of RANE has found the time to meet the demand of the ever popular “wedding band circuit” by preparing a set of covers for their close friend’s (and possibly the first ever RANE fan) wedding later this month. In honor of this event RANE will take their classic line up featuring drummer Travis LaMothe to the Main Pub for a 90 minute set of new cover material.
This will be RANE’s only scheduled appearance for 2010.
Check out Rane online here:

Brothers McCann is impressively taking New England by storm, cultivating their “organic pop” sound with every performance. With their debut album, Different Colors , and a busy road schedule, they continue to welcome new members into the Brothers McCann Family. Like the members of the band, their music is expressively authentic. With soulful, folk-pop roots, Brothers McCann tunes range from introspective falsetto narratives to intensely full and invigorating jams with acoustic tonalities. One of the most salient characteristics of Brothers McCann is the propensity for weaving staggering 3-part harmony into full-blown rock and roll.

SIRSY
Saturday, July 31st 2010
This fiery, sultry, soulful, indie pop rock duo is a musical breath of fresh air in the too often homogenized landscape of indie rock. SIRSY is fronted by the charismatic Melanie Krahmer who critics call a girl with a "stunning voice capable of a lion's roar and a floaty whisper"... a girl "with the lungs of a teenage athlete and the growl of a sixty-something blues singer". Krahmer is also the band's drummer, playing a full drum kit (while STANDING UP), bass parts (on a keyboard with her drum stick), a few Ian Anderson-esque flute solos and melodica, too. Rich Libutti plays everything else (guitar, piano, bass on a keyboard at his feet, and the occasional snare part with his feet (during Krahmer's flute solos). Despite the musical multi-tasking on stage, SIRSY’s live show is passionate, energetic, and always about connecting with their audience.

ADDISON STATION AND THE BRIAN JARVIS BAND
Friday, Aug 6th 2010
Addison Station started as a studio group in 2008, releasing an introspective collection of acoustic pop tunes titled “Everyday Hero”. The group parted ways upon its release, but in February of 2009 vocalist Trent Gerbers and instrumentalist Jeff Kenniston decided to start touring as a duo under the same name, performing music off the EP as well as a number of cover songs and newly written material. Over the summer and fall of 2009 the duo realized that for their music to reach their fullest potential they would need to flesh out the instrumentation.
As a quartet, Addison Station’s music has fallen into a niche of funky and pop/rock tunes powered with a driving rhythmic foundation, vocal harmony, and pop sensibility.

His talent has earned him the Hartford Advocate’s award for “Best Solo Artist” in 2007. Brian’s first full-length album release, “Honestly”, was met with positive reviews and great attention from radio airplay. The demand for Brian has earned him a reputation as one of the touring area’s hardest working artists, often playing over 200 shows a year

JEN KEARNEY AND THE LOST ONION
Saturday, August 28th, 2010
A smoke ring from a Cuban cigar wafts through a city kitchen as a soul singer croons on crackly vinyl; freshly diced onions sizzle as they hit the olive oil in Sunday’s morning’s pan...With a pungent mix of soul, Latin, Funk, reggae, and good ol’rock ‘n roll, Jen Kearney and the Lost Onion will take you into the kitchen to find that sweetness in the soul food you crave.
“…Whatever you want to call it, Kearney and the Lost Onion provide a dense musical potpourri that is ever surprising…The Stevie Wonder comparisons that follow Kearney around are evident on tunes like “Pick Yourself Up,” while a more jazz/funk tune like “Amity” suggests Aretha Franklin joining Blood, Sweat, and Tears for a gig in Brazil.” (Jay Miller, Patriot-Ledger, 2/07)
